Team Building Exercises

Bring your team to the WBHOF for a morning or afternoon of team building and fun.

Classification

  • Explain the concept of pigeon-holing someone, which means classifying someone as something or

stereo typing someone. It should be made clear that this is subjective and unhelpfully judgmental. Instruct  participants to introduce themselves and quickly discuss likes and dislikes. After introductions, reveal to teams that it is their job to discover how to classify themselves as a team.

Sneak  Peek

  • Instructor will build a small structure and hide it from the group. The participants will be divided into teams. Each team will be given building materials to recreate the structure. The instructor will place their structure in the middle of the room. One member from each team can come up at the same time and look at the sculpture for ten seconds. Once they return to their team, they have 25 seconds to instruct their teams how to build an exact replica. After one minute, another member of the team can come up for a “sneak peek” before returning to their team.

Card Pieces

  • A deck of cards is cut into four triangular pieces. Equal numbers of pieces are placed into envelopes and dispersed to teams. Each team has three minutes to sort its pieces, determine which ones it needs to make complete cards, and develop a bargaining strategy. Teams can barter for eight minutes. When time is up, whichever team has the most completed cards win.

Blindfold

  • Objects are scattered around the room. Participants are put into pairs, where one person is blindfolded. The sighted people must guide their partners across the room, and give instructions on how to avoid the obstacles. When they reach the other side, partners switch roles and repeat the exercise.

Game of Possibilities

  • One person in each group is given an object. One at a time, each person will stand in front of the group and demonstrate how to use that object. Demonstrations must be original, wacky and the demonstrator cannot speak. The group must guess what the player is demonstrating.

Scavenger Hunt

  • A list of goofy tasks is given to teams. Tasks can include take a selfie, take a picture of object in building, etc. Whoever completes all the tasks the quickest, wins!

Truth and Lies

  • Everyone sits in a circle facing each other. Each person comes up with three facts about themselves and one line. Go around the circle and have each person state their facts, without revealing which is the lie. The others must guess which is the lie.

Blind Drawing

  • Everyone is divided into partners. Have the individuals sit back to back. One person has the pen and paper and the other has the picture. The person with picture describes the picture to their teammate without actually saying what it is.

Minute to  Win It Activities

Man vs Clock

  • Try and get all of the sprinkles from one bottle to another within a minute.

Suck it Up

  • Players must suck up jewels with a straw and then put them back down to cover paper cut out completely.

Slap Happy

  • Two players on a team have to transfer a ball from one end of the room to the other by slapping the ball back and forth, one person may not hit more than twice in a row.

Book Hockey

  • Player must use a broom to get an object from one side of the obstacle course to the other side.

Wrap Around

  • Two players must use colored streamers and wrap the streamers around another player to wrap them up like a mummy.

Speed Matters

  • Players must scoot from the start of the obstacle course to the finish and back on a bath mat or towel avoiding all objects.

Coin Logo

  • All participants empty their pockets with objects they may have. Instruct each person to create their own logo using what is in front of them. Each group must explain their logo to the group.
