Trailblazers of the Game
Some teams and leagues do more than win, they set the bar for everyone who follows. This exhibit honors the groups whose place in women's basketball history was earned by being first, from the Women's Professional Basketball League, the first women's pro league in the country, to the 1996 U.S. Women's Olympic Team, whose undefeated gold medal run reshaped what the world expected from the game. These are the teams that led the way and backed it up, posting winning percentages and streaks sustained over years, not seasons. On display, visitors will find WBL memorabilia including original jerseys and game tickets, along with other featured teams, leagues, and artifacts. Each one raised the standard for the game that followed.
