WNBA Turns Thirty
(THE EXHIBIT)
WNBA Turns Thirty
In 1996, eight teams and a bold idea launched the WNBA. Thirty years later, that idea is a global phenomenon: sold-out arenas, record-breaking viewership, and a new generation of superstars carrying the torch. This exhibit celebrates three decades of WNBA history, from its earliest seasons through today's era of expansion and unprecedented growth. On display, visitors will find inaugural season jerseys, a program from the first game, an original Portland Fire jersey, Minnesota Lynx jerseys and memorabilia, Sheryl Swoopes' shoes, and 1997 season trading cards. Thirty years in, the league is still just getting started.
