- Compiled an overall record of 114-15 in her four seasons at USC, winning back-to-back National Championships (1983, 1984)
- Was a two-time Olympian, winning gold (1988) and bronze (1992)
- Was a four-time WNBA Champion with the Houston Comets (1997-2000), a four-time WNBA Finals MVP, and a two-time WNBA MVP (1997, 1998)
- Was the first WNBA player to reach 500, 1,000, 2,000, and 2,500 career points
- Won the Women's Professional Basketball ESPY Award three years running (1998, 1999, 2000)
- Was named Team Sportswoman of the Year by the Women's Sports Foundation (1998)
- Was named to the WNBA All-Decade Team
- Was named WNBA Player of the Decade by Legends of Basketball, the NBA Retired Players Association (2006)
- Served as head coach of the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury (2001-2002), Prairie View A&M (2005-2010), UNC Wilmington (2010-2012), Texas Southern (2012-13, then again 2019-2022), and her alma mater USC (2013-2014), retiring from coaching in 2022
