- Was a three-time Olympian (1988, 1996, 2000)
- Played 14 years for the Australian National Team, making 264 appearances across four World Championships and three Olympics
- Led the Australian National Team to its first Olympic medal, a bronze, in 1996, and was named Australian Player of the Year that year
- Was captain of the Australian team that won the silver medal at the 2000 Olympics
- Was named the Women's International Player of the Year (1994, 1996)
- Was the first Australian woman to play professionally overseas
- Was a member of the Phoenix Mercury (1997-2001), a WNBA All-Star starter (1999), and had her No. 7 jersey retired — becoming the first Mercury player and just the second WNBA player ever to have a jersey retired
- Was inducted into the Sport Australia Hall of Fame (2003) and the Basketball Australia Hall of Fame (2006)
- Served as a development and assistant coach for the NBL's South Dragons (2007-2008), becoming just the second woman to be part of an NBL club's coaching staff
- Served as an assistant coach for the Chinese national team at the 2008 Olympics, and again from 2013 to 2016
- Served as an assistant coach for the Australian Women's National Team (2009-2012)
- Was inducted into the FIBA Hall of Fame (2016) and elevated to Legend status in the Basketball Australia Hall of Fame that same year
