Dean Weese

• Amassed an incredible 1,207-197 record over a 42-year coaching career that included stints at the high school, collegiate, and professional levels as well as on the international circuit
• Began coaching immediately after college in his hometown of Higgins, Texas, coaching both boys' and girls' teams for one season (1957)
• Coached the next 15 years at Spearman High School, winning three state titles and posting a 444-76 record (1966, 1971 and 1972)
• Served as an assistant coach for the USA squad that competed in the Pan American Games (1971)
• Coached six seasons at Wayland Baptist College, leading the Flying Queens to four National Women's Invitational Tournament (NWIT) championships and five AIAW national tournament berths while posting a 193-30 record
• Coached the Dallas Diamonds of the Women's Professional Basketball League (1979-80)
• Returned to the high school level, spending 19 seasons at the helm of the Levelland High School program, where he won seven state championships and posted a 551-85 record (1980-99)
• Was named National Girls' Sport Coach of the Year by the National Federation of Coaches Association (2000)
