Served as an assistant coach for the U.S. Olympic team that won gold in Los Angeles (1984), then as head coach for the U.S. Olympic team that won gold in Seoul (1988)
Worked with seven other U.S. select teams, including Pan American, World University, Goodwill Games and World Championship squads
Led North Carolina State to 20 of the program's 27 all-time NCAA Tournament appearances, including 11 Sweet 16 trips and an Elite Eight and Final Four appearance (1998)
Won five ACC Regular Season Championships and four ACC Tournament titles
Posted 21 seasons with 20 or more wins and 29 winning seasons overall
Became the first women's basketball coach in ACC history, and the fifth in NCAA history, to coach 900 games at the same school (2005-06)
Became the fourth Division I head women's coach to surpass 1,000 career games on the sideline (2005-06)
Won the inaugural Jimmy V ESPY for Perseverance (2007)
Was named national Coach of the Year eight times by various organizations
Founded the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, a partner of the V Foundation for Cancer Research that has raised more than $7 million for cancer research through events like the annual Hoops for Hope basketball game and Drive4Kay golf tournament (2007)
