  • Played guard for Nashville Business College, earning All-America honors, and represented the United States in international competition against the Soviet Union (1958-62)
  • Served as assistant coach of the U.S. Olympic Team (1976)
  • Served as head coach of the U.S. Olympic Team (1980)
  • Has served as head coach at Louisiana State University, guiding the team to 10 NCAA Tournament appearances and a Southeastern Conference tournament crown in 1991 (1983-2004)
  • Guided LSU to a Women's National Invitational Tournament (WNIT) title (1985)
  • Selected as the SEC Coach of the Year (1997, 1999)
  • Completed her career as the third winningest women's basketball coach in NCAA history, with an overall record of 708-308
